Standardized Curriculum

Students should, for the most part, be allowed to choose what sort of classes they take. On a highschool level it is important to experience different types of learning, in the art, music, photography and other fields, in order to have some sort of understanding of what they would want to study in college. A student with a diverse learning background has an easier time declaring a major than a student who has only experienced the base learning classes.

I agree. Children need to be given various experiences that they chose. if all students were forced to take the same classes then how would students know what they like and what they dont like. They need to have the ability to chose what they want to do so that they could see what interests them, especially since no one likes to be forced to do something. Choices are key to happiness.

I agree with Tasha in that highschool students need to experience different types of classes to figure out what it is they want to do in life. I think it is important for students to realize that main subjects like math, english, and history are not the only options. Growing up I felt like I was rushed in making a desicion about what I wanted to do with my life. Dance was always my passion but I felt like at my schools it was always looked at as a hobby and I needed to go into a more secure field. Students should be exposed to different kinds of classes because if they are not aware of their options, they may end up blending in with the crowd and going into a field that they do not enjoy.
